August 31, 2022This is a record of the wars and contentious among the people of the Bulgarians and the German missionaries…. Just kidding, we aren’t really at war!
Well, mostly. In our residence building, we share a floor with a ton of German missionaries. Since we were here for about the same amount of time, we decided to make things interesting. It started with a ceiling tile that was taken from the ceiling and delicately placed in their rooms when they weren’t looking. It soon escalated into a full on war. We now are very paranoid, and everytime we come home we expect there to be something in our room. Fun times!
It’s been a pretty normal week for us, not a lot has happened since last time. We’ve enjoyed playing a lot of basketball, spikeball, and kickball against the Germans and Macedonians. You get basketball powers when you become a missionary. It’s been so much fun!
We’ve two really awesome devotionals, one by the second counselor in the presiding bishopric, and other by Elder Gimenz of the Seventy. They are both amazing people and it was so cool to get to learn from them.
I’ve also had the opportunity to have a dinner meeting with the first councilor in my branch, Brother Grant, a self proclaimed Book of Mormon Zealot. He has studied so much he practically has it memorized. He told us about how we came to know the truth of it, by reading and praying about it. It was really awesome to hear and see how that knowledge affected the whole rest of his life!
Next week we have the opportunity to meet with Brother Skimmer, who lived and taught religion in Jerusalem. He was head of Old Testament studies for a long time. I’m so excited to hear what he has to say.
It’s crazy to think I only have about 3 1/2 weeks left here! I’m ready to go, even though language isn’t coming easy.
At the same time though, I love it here and I don’t want to leave the friends I’ve made!
