Week 38 – Turkish for a week

I got to be a Turkish speaking missionary last week!

We had a week-long exchange where all the Bulgarian missionaries swapped companions with the Turkish missionaries!

It was awesome. We saw so many miracles come from it!

We had a great meeting with Kader, the lady I baptized, and she brought some friends! Kader also speaks Turkish, so they had fun as well.

We went canvassing out on the main street. We asked people how they celebrated Easter and we got so many responses. Really incredible.

With a heavy heart, I had to say goodbye to Burgas this week.

I’ve been given the assignment to serve as District Leader in Sofia, and to work in the mission office.

I didn’t want to go, I’m going to miss the members and friends so very much, but I’m excited about this new assignment and the opportunity to serve the other missionaries.

I moved in the new apartment and got all settled in on Wednesday, and so far so good!

On Sunday, there were so many members at church I almost cried. It was amazing! There are so many good people here, and with a larger branch and everyone being very supportive to each other, we’re more free to focus on our investigators and other work. I think I’m going to like it here!

With my new assignment, I received a new comp! Everyone give it up for Elder Newbold!

I left Burgas in good hands with Elder Grayson, trading one MTC companion for another.

Elder Grayson is an amazing missionary, I’m so grateful for our time together.

Despite all the changes, I don’t have much else to report on. Time is flying by, I’ve hit 9 months in the mission. Right now, our mission is doing a Book of Mormon reading challenge which has been really amazing.

If you want to join in, we are reading cover to cover, 8 pages a day. We’ll finish in two transfers. I’m focusing on highlighting the names and characteristics of God the Father, Jesus Christ, and the Holy Ghost
