October 11, 2022Oh, man, this has been a crazy two weeks! I have successfully made it to Bulgaria!
I have 2 weeks worth of things here, but don’t worry I’ll keep it short.
Week 10
After a long two days of travel, a day of orientation, another day of travel, and a very busy Sunday, it is finally P-day!
I’m still very jet lagged and very confused, but so excited to be here!
We had many tender mercies while flying here.
We landed safely and were met with hugs from our mission president and his wife.
Bulgaria is crazy! First thing we did was go visit the Nemski Cathedral, which is awesome.
And then went to the mission office in Sofia. It sits right above the church building actually!
We then had dinner (Horse kabobs), met our companions, and went home.
I was assigned to the city of Plovdiv, and the next day the president personally drove us out there.
We had lunch with him for his birthday.
Plovdiv Is wonderful, beautiful and old.
In fact, it is the oldest city in Europe!!
Our apartment is pretty awesome.
Next to us is a hill, one of four in Plovdiv that host ancient ruins, some of them predating the Roman Empire! So awesome.
Week one was just a lot of orientation, getting to know the city and the people, and resting to get over jet lag.
I love it here in Bulgaria, and I’m excited for what’s to come.
Week 11
It’s been a good week. We taught a lot of lessons this week and meet with a lot of members. We’re starting fresh in this area, meaning that we are starting Plovdiv over, brand new missionaries.
We have a lot to learn. We’re putting in a lot of work in developing a relationship with the members and the people being taught.
This week we were able to explore the old town! So many cool ruins and old buildings. Most are older than our country!
It’s very pretty in Plovdiv.
I’ve had some pretty good food here.
On Thursday we had the opportunity to visit a member who lives quite far away in another city in our area. He’s from Britain, he retired here with his wife 7 years ago.
He had a beautiful house up on a hill overlooking the village below. Absolutely stunning.
He also had 12 cats, which was devastating for my allergies. We enjoyed our time visiting him though!
We had an awesome time watching General Conference here!
We were able to watch the first morning sessions live, but had to catch up on the others.
We still haven’t watched the Sunday Afternoon, so no spoilers please about what was announced!
I loved all the messages shared and I wholeheartedly recommend everyone to take a listen to what the living prophet had to say.
Looking forward to another amazing week! Have a wonderful day!
