January 12, 2023Well, it’s been an incredible couple weeks! Crazy adventures, visits from the president, exploring Bulgaria’s deepest cave, staring into the eye’s of god, insane transfers, and trying to fit in missionary work around all this! It’s a lot, but I’ll make it quick!
Saturday, 3rd of December: What an awesome day! The mission president, President Koivisto and his wife came to visit Plovdiv. They hosted a special activity for the youth!
We made Finish Cinnamon rolls. They were amazing!
We made everything from scratch. We rolled dough, Ivan drank milk, and we shared an awesome Light the World message with everyone!
I then destroyed some youth in a game of Catan *Or rather, got destroyed*
Then after that we had choir practice!
I’m not sure how I got roped into singing, I suspect the President had something to do with it.
After that we went Canvasing out on the Square, and there was a GIANT CHRISTMAS TREE! It was AWESOME!
Then we went out to dinner, Elder School might have caught part of the World Cup on the restaurant TV.
The next day, Sunday the 4th, the President revealed his hidden talent. Piano!
He played some Christmas songs for us as we set up for the meeting.
After Church we packed up and headed for Sofia for Zone Conference #2! We had an amazing adventure awaiting us!
Monday we took a little trip, so we all piled onto a bus and
… took off for the Eye’s of God cave!
This huge cave has two symmetrical holes at the top that look like eyes.
Standing there, looking up at enormous eyes surrounded by massive stone walls around you, makes you feel a little small.
It was so cool there!
Sister Powell from my district gave a little devotional and sang. It sounded amazing!
Here are a few more pictures:
We then went to yet another cave, this one down deep in the ground.
It was pretty awesome, there were bats everywhere!
The stalactites were super cool, some of them over a million years old.
After that we went to get some traditional Bulgarian food and a really cool place in Sofia! It felt like a medieval tavern.
Zone conference itself was amazing. I learned a lot, and got to share my thoughts. The topic of the conference was enduring to the end, and waiting on the Lord. All in all an amazing time!
This transfer we are losing 4 missionaries, and we are getting one Turkish missionary this week. We won’t be getting more missionaries until MAY of next year… we are pretty nervous about that…
We enjoyed some pringles on the train home!
When we got home we found this guy out on our balcony. He was just chilling there, and he stayed there for a long time.
Wasn’t until later we realized the poor thing hit his head and was confused! So, we took him and brought him down to a safe spot, where it was nice and warm and he was able to recover and fly away.
We wish him well!!
This is a Baptism in Turkey! We joined an online zoom call to show our support! It was amazing!
Also, Elder Mitchell came back! After 6 weeks away from us in Sofia, he was finally ready to return to Plovdiv, and the Three Missionaries reunited! Unfortunately we received news that we would be broken up again later that day…
So… this next week my companions will be leaving Plovdiv.
They were both transferred to different cities. I will be staying in Plovdiv though, which I am very excited about!
My new comp will be Elder Warnock, the 2nd tallest missionary in the mission. We will be a force to be reckoned with!
More updates next week! I hope you all are having a wonderful day!
